Maths
Maths is essential to everyday life and critical to science, technology and engineering. We aim for our Maths curriculum to provide a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically and give a sense of curiosity and enjoyment about the subject.
Our aim is to ensure that all children become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, can reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry and develop justification using mathematical language. We also aim for all our children to be able to solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non-routine problems.
Within KS1 we use a variety of resources from ‘Power Maths’, ‘White Rose’, ‘Nrich’ and ‘Abacus’ amongst others. We aim to develop mastery in maths enabling children to acquire a deep understanding of maths concepts, structures and procedures. We believe that every child has the capacity to succeed in maths.
