Music

At Hyde Heath we really want our children to develop a love of music and realise its ability to inspire, impact wellbeing, give confidence and nurture creativity. Music is an integral part of life at school.

We take every opportunity to bring singing and Music into the day. In weekly music lessons, the children explore a range of musical instruments, tuned and untuned percussion. They have many opportunities to sing songs and learn rhythms and melodies. The children are encouraged to perform to each other as much as possible and evaluate their work

Our music curriculum covers work on singing, pitch, rhythm, composition, listening and discovering the ways in which music can create a mood/picture. Songs and music are also used to enhance other curriculum areas such as writing, history and art. Through assemblies music is used to evoke emotional response and inspire awe and wonder. 

Each month we focus on a different musician in assemblies which allows us to learn about and appreciate a variety of different music from different cultures and eras.
