Music

At Hyde Heath we really want our children to develop a love of music. Music is an integral part of life at school, led by a passionate Music specialist, and can be found in many areas of the curriculum.
In weekly music lessons, the children explore a range of musical instruments, tuned and untuned percussion. They have many opportunities to sing songs and learn rhythms and melodies. The children are encouraged to perform to each other as much as possible and evaluate their work
The syllabus covers work on singing, pitch, rhythm, composition, listening and discovering the ways in which music can create a mood/picture. Many opportunities are used to highlight the children’s musical talents – our fabulous Christmas Plays, Easter, Harvest and end of year assemblies and the Little Missenden Music Festival. Pupils are also encouraged to share their instrumental expertise with us in school. We also try to bring in visiting musicians for the children to see firsthand musical professionals and hear a variety of types and styles of music.
We have a Recorder Club that is run at lunchtimes
