At Hyde Heath Infant School we believe that every child should be provided with a high quality, broad balanced PE curriculum to develop a healthy lifestyle and an engagement in physical activities for life. PE, physical activity and sport play a key role in personal development and we hope to provide children with transferrable skills they can take into later life and the knowledge to make healthy lifestyle choices. Every child should be provided with opportunities to participate in a wide range of sporting, health and physical instruction to develop basic knowledge, skills and understanding. Children can then progress to perform with increasing confidence and competence in a range of physical activities, boosting self-esteem, motivation and confidence. We also strive to promote an ethos of fair play, teamwork and sportsmanship with our children learning the values of fairness, responsibility, resilience and respect.
PE is taught by our sports specialist, Mr Andy Mullins ( with Level 3 qualifications in many sports including football, basket ball, badminton and volleyball) and our PE Coordinator Miss Claire Sanders ( who is a qualified gymnastics and yoga coach).
Hyde Heath School is part of the County Sports Partnership based at Dr Challoners HIgh School, where they children get regular opportunities for sports festivals and competitions.
Twice weekly PE sessions are on the curriculum for all and then the children are encouraged to be as active as possible at each breaktime. There are also many sports clubs available over the course of the year - gymnastics, dance, soccer, cricket and tennis.
